Peyton's Birthday Party!

So last Sunday was little miss Peyton's birthday party. Everything went great, the weather was perfect and we had a great turn out! We had it at the West Point City Park and had a bunch of friends and family come for a BBQ. Peyton got a lot of presents but really all she was interested in was playing in the sand and on the swings. When it came time for her to eat her cake things didn't go as planned. We had her in her high chair and the cake was in front of her and once the candle got blown out she wanted nothing to do with the cake. She would touch it get a little bit of frosting on her finger and then taste it but then she would shake her hand trying to get the frosting off. So for all the messes that she makes at home with her toys and when she rubs strawberry jello all over her body she would not get herself messy with the cake!! Dev and I tried to get her to stick her hand in it and she would not have it, I smeared some cake on her and myself trying to show her that it was ok if she got dirty and that the cake tasted good but it didn't help. So after about 10 minutes of trying to get her to eat we just gave up and let her loose. First we had to rinse her off, and that involved us stripping her down and washing her off at the drinking fountain which she did not appreciate. After we got her rinsed off she took off butt naked running through the park with her hands thrown up in the air laughing away. So while her cake didn't go over as planned she made us all laugh by doing something unexpected. She got some cute new clothes, and some new toys Dev and I bought her a big play kitchen and my parents got her a shopping cart to put all of her play food and things in. She has also discovered a love for purses lately she got a new purse and a toy cell phone and keys to put in it. Her birthday has come and gone and it is crazy to think that she is a year old already. This past year has been a lot of fun watching her grow and see her personality develop. We feel so blessed and grateful to have her and are looking forward to many more birthdays, but the running naked through the park has to stop.
