Crazy Peyton and Ultra Sound

So this morning was our 20 week ultra sound. Things went pretty good, everything is still the same, she still has a cystic hygroma and she has a lot of fluid that is trapped inside of her abdomen and chest. But we were expecting to see all of this so nothing really caught us by surprise. My appointment was at 10:30 but we didn't get called back until about 11:30. I was told to have a full bladder an hour before the appointment so that they could get the best possible look at everything, so by the time we got back there I thought I was going to die I had to go to the bathroom so bad!! It didn't help that an ultra sound involves pushing on your bladder the entire time!! But we told the ultra sound tech that we knew that the baby has the problems that she has so we were there to just get a good look at her since she is bigger than she was at our previous ultra sound. Our ultra sound tech was very nice and he answered all of our questions and explained everything that he was seeing. He told us that he had been doing this for 18 years and he had seen only 3 other babies that had this same condition in his entire career. He had a hard time getting a good look at everything because I have hardly any amniotic fluid, the Elizabeth's kidneys are not working properly so she is not producing amniotic fluid like other babies do. He also could not find her stomach but he said that while it is not a good sign it is not uncommon, it could just mean that she had an empty stomach while he was looking at it. He looked at her heart but with the amount of fluid that was surrounding it he could not tell if she had 4 complete chambers, but her heart is still beating strong so that is good. He seemed a little surprised at how calm we were about everything that he was telling us, he kept asking us what we wanted to know and not know. Also towards the end of the ultra sound he asked us if we would mind if he had another tech come in who had just graduated from school and had not seen something like this before. We said sure so she came in and he showed her everything and she just kept saying how she would have had no idea what she would have been looking at if our guy wasn't there telling her so we were glad we got him first and not her!!

This weekend we went down and watched some of Deven's cousins play one of their little league football games. It was a lot of fun to watch, Peyton wanted to go out on the field so bad. Every time we set her down she took off as fast as she could. But his cousins team won by a lot so that was good. After the game we went up to my parents house, and let Peyton take a nap before Darcy, Thom, and Haley came over. Deven was going to go shooting with a bunch of people that afternoon while Peyton and I hung out at my parents. Darcy and I decided to turn the sprinkler on and let the girls run around the backyard. Peyton played in the water for about 2 minutes and then she decided she was done. So we spent the rest of the night just hanging around and talking. This weekend we are going to the BYU football game! I am so excited, and we are taking Peyton with us so that will be a lot of fun! She is full of it this week she loves getting into things that she is not supposed to be in. She is also starting to talk a lot more, most of the stuff she says sounds like a bunch of gibberish but it is still fun to listen to. She can say puppy, mommy, daddy, Hollee, and pretty. Hopefully she will start saying a lot more because she has the funniest little voice!

Peyton likes to play with her swimmy diapers for some reason.

I have fun playing with them too, but it's at Peyton's expense.

Playing in the sprinkler.

Look at the mess behind her.

She loves to look outside.

Here is a picture of little Elizabeth's hand.

This one will be hard to explain, but it is a picture of her face. It is kinda creepy looking since it looks like a skeleton. But that dark spot on the upper left is a small part of the cystic hygroma that is on the back of her body. Her face is just to the right of that dark spot.

Amy I am sorry for what you are going through... You guys sound like you are handling it with much grace and with positivity. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and wish you all the best.
Also Carson loves to wear his swim diapers on his head to, isn't that age fun!

Well that's good her heart is still going strong! Did the Dr seem more hopeful after the ultra sound than he was before or just the same?
