Snotty Baby and Laundry Baskets!

So only a few hours into the day and it has already been crazy! For the past few days Peyton has had a pretty bad runny nose and I am not sure if it is because she is getting a new tooth, or if she has a cold. Unfortunately for us either of those things there is really nothing that we can do to get rid of it so we are kinda stuck until the tooth comes through or her cold dries up! One of the few things that makes me gag happens to be snot, gross I know! I handled the spitting up and with Peyton there was a ton of that and diarrhea while not pleasant is not horrible but snot grosses me out. So this week has been pretty bad for the both of us because Peyton so far has had a never ending supply!! When you go to wipe her nose she puts up a big fight and if you are holding her she pulls away and buries her face in your shoulder wiping off most of it on your shirt. So I am hoping that she dries up soon! She woke up in a bad mood this morning and she is usually really happy in the mornings so I know she is not feeling good. I walk into her room to get her out of bed and the first thing that hit me was the horrible smell coming out of the corner of the room where her crib is. Then I see Peyton standing there waiting for me with her nose just running like crazy, so this morning got off to a not so great start! After changing the most disgusting diaper that I have seen from her, and wiping her nose I had to get her breakfast ready. She recently has discovered a love for oatmeal, so while I made her breakfast she is screaming like crazy. Once the oatmeal is done she proceeds to take a handful a throw it at the dogs, great for the dogs not so great for me. So she refused to eat oatmeal so I tried some fruit baby food she didn't want that either. So I just took her out of her high chair and set her down and he was fine with walking around the house playing. That lasted for about an hour and then she started to get mad again, most of it because I kept prying her away from the TV. She has now discovered the TV has buttons that are conveniently located within her reach, so she spends the day turning the TV on and off and the volume up and down, I am sure our neighbors love us! Again there is a horrible smell coming from my sweet little baby, so off to the bedroom for another diaper change. Changing her diaper used to be easy now not so much. You know how when you pull a fish out of the water and they flip around like crazy, yeah that is how it is changing Peyton's diaper! When she has a nasty poopy diaper like she has been having lately trying to hold her still long enough to get her cleaned up and the messy diaper out of the way before she can flip around and create an even bigger mess has become a bit of a challenge. So after that diaper is finally cleaned up and its back to bed so that she can get more sleep and hopefully turn back into my sweet happy little baby, and not a snot filled, poopy diaper little terror!

Another new development from Peyton this week is that she has now realized that when she flips over an empty laundry basket it makes a great platform to stand on. She has been pushing around an empty laundry basket all through the house and she likes to gather things from each room and put it in the basket. Well yesterday I was doing the dishes and Peyton is pushing around her laundry basket and I look over across the counter and there is Peyton's smiling face looking at me. Normally this would not be that big of a deal except for this time her face was level with the counter top. She had flipped over the basket and stood up on it and was now laughing at what she had discovered to do. So the rest of the day was spent with her pushing the laundry basket to different spots in the house and standing on it. If there is music on she will dance on top of it, if the TV is on she will stand on it to get closer to the buttons she likes to push. She has fallen off a couple of times and she has a couple of bumps and bruises but she will cry for about 10 seconds and then she wants back down so she can push it somewhere new to stand on it some more! She is a very curious little girl and every day Deven and I are amazed and slightly worried about the new things that she discovers!

I couldn't help but take a picture of her sad face this morning!

Her is her new favorite thing to do, ignore my messy countertops!
