My attitude has totally changed since the last time I posted and that is obviously because the baby is here!!! Korbin Scott Sorensen was born on October 1, 2009 at 3:50 p.m., he weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. and was 21 in. long. We are so so happy that he is here and that he is healthy! It was a long time coming but the pregnancy is finally over and now we can just enjoy our new baby boy. So be prepared for a long post with lots and lots of pictures because we are so excited! Some of the pictures will be different sizes and the quality might not be great because we have a mix of pictures from a few different cameras and camera phones.
I was scheduled to go into the hospital Wed. the 30th to be induced. So I got up really early that morning, I really didn't sleep much the night before, and got showered and ready to go. I had my bag all packed up and Peyton's bag all packed and I was just waiting until 7 am so that I could call the hospital to make sure that it was still ok for me to come in. Well I called and they told me that they had a huge rush of people come in that went into spontaneous labor and that they were currently all full and that I needed to call back at 10 and see if a room opens up. So I was super bummed out, and we sat around until 10 and I called again and they told me it was still super busy so they wanted me to call back at 11:45 and if they didn't have a room by then, then I would be pushed back until the next day. So we waited some more and I called back and they told me that I would not be able to get in that day so to plan on coming in the next morning. BUMMER!! I was so mad! But oh well there was nothing we could do so we went out to breakfast and then spent the day hanging around and trying to relax. So Thursday morning I wake up early again and I call the hospital at 7 and thankfully they told us to come on in! So we got everything loaded and Bryan and Hollee came up to watch Peyton and we headed off. Since we live in Layton and our hospital is in Sandy we hit a little bit of traffic and we got to the hospital at about 8:30, I got all checked in and we got our stuff into the labor and delivery room and I got changed into my lovely hospital gown and sat on the bed and waited to get hooked up to the Pitocin. Right as I sat on the bed I started having contractions on my own! Figures! So our awesome Sara came in and we got my IV in and by that time I was having contractions about every 5 minutes that were lasting about a minute each. My Dr. came in and broke my water and we got the Pit., started just to get things moving a bit quicker. My contractions started to get really close together and they were lasting a long time so at around 12 I was dilated to a 6 so I decided to get my epidural because things were moving a lot faster than I thought they would. When I got my epidural by blood pressure tanked so I had to get a quick shot of who knows what to get it to come back up but the shot made me sick to my stomach and I had to lay on one side for the rest of the labor. By about 2:50 I was fully dilated and ready to push and by 3:50 he was here! So the labor went really quick and smoothly which was awesome, with Peyton I was hooked up to the Pitocin by 8 am and I didn't have her until 7:56 pm so I was nice having him during the afternoon. He was crying really well, and he was nice and pink and his cord was really thick so he was totally healthy. I was shocked that he weighed as much as he did, I didn't think he would weigh more than about 7 lbs. 6 oz and he came out at 8 lbs 4 oz so no wonder I was so uncomfortable! After we got him all cleaned up and I got all cleaned up they gave Korbin his first bath in our room so we could all see, and then after that they moved me to my recovery room. They made Dev and I a nice steak dinner that night which is something we didn't get with Peyton so that was awesome. Later on that night my grandparents and aunt and cousin came out to visit, both of my sisters, and Bryan and Hollee came down with Peyton so that she could see her little brother for the first time. I don't think she really understood what was going on but she was excited to see another baby! The next morning I got up and showered and got all of our stuff ready to go and we hung around in the room for awhile and then they discharged us around 2. So we were in and out of hospital less than 24 hours after Korbin was born, which was awesome. They gave us the choice to either leave early or stay the extra night and we both wanted to go home so we got our of there as quick as we could. This weekend we have just been relaxing and getting used to having another member of the family. Peyton loves Korbin, sometimes a little too much but she is doing really well adjusting to having to share the attention. She has her moments but she is only 2 and those 4 teeth are still trying to push their way out so she is doing awesome all things considered. So far Korbin is a very low maintenance baby. He only cries when he is hungry and even then it is not really crying. He lets out 1 cry to just tell us that he is hungry and then waits for the food to come. So hopefully he stays so easy for awhile because Peyton is a very active and crazy little girl.
We are so so happy to have Korbin here and we love him so much already! We are very excited for the holidays that are coming up and we feel like our family is complete with him. We are going to go to the pumpkin patch in a couple of weeks which will be tons of fun, and I am super excited for Halloween this year because Peyton will understand more of what is going on. Thanks everyone for the well wishes and kind thoughts, you guys are great!!
